VISION

THE FUTURE OF SURFING IS NEAR AND IT'S NOWHERE NEAR THE OCEAN. MWDG HAS BEEN BUILDING WAVES FOR PADDLERS FOR WELL OVER A HALF CENTURY. THE TECHNOLOGY WE DEVELOPED FOR KAYAKERS HAS BEEN REFINED TO SUIT RIVER SURFING PERFECTLY.  A CHANNEL, WATER AND A BIT OF GRADIENT COMBINED WITH OURPATENTED WAVESHAPER TECHNOLOGY IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED TO CREATE A PERFECT SURF, A THRIVING SURF CULTURE AND A ECONOMIC BOON FOR ANY COMMUNITY.

MWDG'S PATENTED WAVESHAPER TECHNOLOGY WAS DEVELOPED TO DEAL WITH ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT CHALLENGES WHEN DESINING A RIVER WAVEPARK, CONSISTANCY. BECAUSE THE AMOUNT OF WATER FLOWING IN A RIVER FLUCATES THROUGHOUT THE YEARS IT IS EXTREMLY DIFFICULT TO CREATE A WAVE THAT IS BOTH IDEAL FOR SURFING AND SAFE AT ALL THE VARIOUS RIVER LEVELS, THE DIFFERENCE OF A FEW HUNDRED CFS CAN TURN A POWERFUL PERFECT WAVE TO A MUSHY GUTLESS WAVE OR WORSE INTO A DEADLY HYDRAULIC. RIVERS DO NOT FUNCTION THE SAME AS OCEANS, THE RIVER MAY GROW LARGER AND MORE POWERFUL WHILE THE WAVE DISAPEARS OR THE RIVER LEVEL MAY DROP AND BECOME LESS POWERFUL BUT THE RIVER WAVE BECOME MORE PRONOUNCED, POWERFUL AND DANGEROUS. IN THE PAST WAVEPARKS WERE DESIGNED WITH STATIC BOTTOM CONTOURS AND THIS MEANT THE WATER FLOW DICTATED 100% WHAT THE WAVE WOULD BE LIKE AT VARIOUS FLOWS. THIS MEANT MANY PARKS HAD DECENT SURF FOR ONLY A FRACTION OF THE YEAR, USUALLY AT HIGHER FLOWS. AT MWDG WE NEW BOISE WOULD BE THE LITMUS TEST FOR TWO CRUCIAL POINTS THAT WOULD DEFINE RIVER RECREATION. 1. EXACTLY WHAT KIND OF QUALITY WAVES COULD WE GET AND FOR HOW LONG THOUGHOUT THE YEAR? 2. IF WE ACHIVED WHAT WE WERE AIMING FOR HOW QUICKLY WOULD A RIVER SURFING COMMUNITY FORM AND HOW BIG WOULD IT GET? THE WAVESHAPER HAS CREATED VERY FUN TO EPIC SURF ALL YEAR ROUND. BECAUSE OF THIS BOISE NOW HAS THE MOST RAPIDLY GROWING RIVER SURFING COMMUNITY IN THE WORLD. NOW DAYS WALKING ALONG THE RIVER ONE MIGHT THINK THEY WERE STROLLING THROUGH A BEACH TOWN IN HAWAII NOT A CITY FORMALLY KNOW FOR "IDAHO SPUDS".

The word here is "adjusability". The Waveshaper in Boise creates ridable surf from 200fcs up to 7000cfs. Meaning one can surf 365 days a year. Boise has two waves. The primary wave on river right allows for the the most flexibility and creates the best wave form. The secondary wave  is on river left with the high concrete was which many begginers use for easy entry onto the wave. Becuase surfing is assecible on a daily basis, surfers are multipliying expontionaly. A thriving surf culture is developing. The Boise Wavepark  is the real life surfing version what the film Field Of Dreams. "If you build it, they will come."
